Welcome to FunctionalDiversity.org
This webpage has two goals:
- to discuss ideas and tools related to the study of ecosystem function, community assembly and community structure, including taxonomic and functional diversity. My interest is mostly in plant communities, but as I find something interesting about animal diversity (or fungal, or microbial, or whatever, or especially links between levels) I will include it here.
- to discuss ideas and tools related to pursuing a career in the sciences, whether in academia, government or consulting. Regardless of the specifics, all practicing scientists must design experiments, analyze data, and share scientific knowledge with others. In academia, much of that is through teaching, while in government or consulting, the sharing of knowledge occurs through seminars, workshops and publications aimed at clients and stakeholders.
If you have comments or suggestions, please let me know.
